Aftercare Instructions

Thank you for getting a tattoo in our studio!

We want to make sure that you have the best experience for healing afterwards. There's no perfect way to heal a tattoo (since everyone's skin is different) but these are pretty standard guidelines that should be followed. Let us know if you have any questions!

Second Skin - is a breathable bandage that will protect your tattoo! Unlike plastic wrap or plastic bandages, it allows air through and was actually first developed to medically treat burns.
- Do not worry if there is a small bubble that forms, this allows for excess ink or plasma to collect.
- If the bandage starts peeling off, you can remove it and clean the area. Fresh tattoos don't need to be covered all the time, but Second Skin can help reduce irritation.
- Sometimes a rash or redness can appear due to an allergy or reaction to the adhesive. It's okay! Just remove it and the symptoms should ease up in a couple days. If they don't, contact us, your artist, or see a doctor to make sure it's not an infection.
- The best way to remove Second Skin is in the shower. Pull a corner towards you and slowly peel it off, don't rip it off all at once. Once removed, clean with unscented soap and air dry. Do not use a loofah or anything that could add bacteria.

Clean your tattoo with clean damp paper towel and unscented soap. This can remove any excess ink or skin, while also not leaving behind any remnants of paper. (Do not use toilet paper or a bath towel).

After a few days, and once clean and air dried, you can apply a small amount of moisturizer. Less is more, if you use too much it can cause the pores to be blocked and healing can take longer. Use sparingly to ease itchiness or discomfort. Usually a couple times a day works well at the beginning.

Try not to sleep directly on the placement of your tattoo. For example if it's on your back, try sleeping on your side. If it's on your left arm, try the right side instead. This will reduce any fabric rubbing up against it or getting stuck over night.

Be VERY careful with sun exposure and apply sun screen for protection once it's fully healed.

Most tattoos will heal within a week or two, but can be sensitive for longer. Feel free to contact us anytime with questions or concerns!

Yay that's it, enjoy your new tattoo!
